Hackney Giving - Community African Network received funding from Hackney Giving through Hackney CVS to support 100 African families with food and household packages, electricity/energy top-up and hot food between May – June 2020. Over 100 families were supported with both food packages and hot meals in Hackney.
DEFRA - Community African Network received funding from DEFRA through a consortium to support 100 African families with food and household packages between July – August 2020. CAN was able to distribute food and household items to families through volunteers at the Dalston Lane centre.
The London Community Foundation - Community African Network received funding from the London Response Fund through the London Community Foundation for a three months project to enhance organizational capacity, developing new digital channels and providing food packages and household items to 100 low-income African and Caribbean families within Hackney between September – November 2020. CAN was able to organise capacity building training for member organisations and acquired computers, printer, and laptops for the network. The project helped to expand CAN’s digital channels to include Facebook, Twitter and launch of the website.
Harambe Covid-19 Response - HM Government and The National Lottery Community Fund - Community African Network received funding from HM Government and the National Lottery Community Fund to develop new digital channels and providing food packages and household items to 50 low-income African and Caribbean families within Hackney between September 2020 – February 2021. The funding helped CAN provide food vouchers and packages to over 100 families in Hackney.
